Inside the Chanel Cruise Pre-Show Dinner at the Sheats Goldstein Residence
We recently had the honor of directing and shooting the pre-show dinner for the Chanel Cruise Show at the iconic Sheats Goldstein Residence in Los Angeles. This experience was a blend of high fashion, architectural brilliance, and Hollywood glamour.
The Venue: Sheats Goldstein Residence
Nestled in the hills above LA, this mid-century modern masterpiece by John Lautner features sweeping city views, dramatic concrete structures, and expansive glass walls. Its luxurious and exclusive ambiance made it the perfect setting for a Chanel event.
The Vision: Elegance and Modernity
Chanel’s events are known for their meticulous attention to detail, reflecting the brand’s legacy. My vision was to capture this essence against the residence’s unique character, creating a visual narrative that combined Chanel’s storied past with the avant-garde spirit of the location.
Directing the Experience
As guests arrived, the residence came alive with the interplay of light and shadow. I balanced intimate close-ups with wide-angle shots to highlight both the guests’ couture outfits and the stunning architecture. The challenge was to capture the live event’s dynamism while maintaining a precise, polished look.
The Dinner: Culinary and Aesthetic Delights
The dinner featured elegant floral arrangements and fine china, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury. The menu, crafted by a renowned chef, was a visual and culinary delight, perfectly complementing the evening’s aesthetic.
Capturing the Essence
The final footage encapsulates Chanel’s timeless elegance and modern luxury. This project was a blend of fashion, architecture, and film, creating a harmonious visual story.
Reflecting on the Experience
This event reminded me why I love what I do—telling stories through beautiful images and creating memorable experiences. Working with Chanel at the Sheats Goldstein Residence was inspiring, and I look forward to sharing the final video and more insights soon.
Until next time,
